What do you say when an armed forces soldier climbs a telecom tower in Jammu & Kashmir to replace Pakistan’s flag with the Indian tri-colour ? Salute Sir! Vande Mataram! According to various reports, an armed forces jawan on August 14 climbed a 50 m tower in the Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir to remove a Pakistani flag. The whole act was shot on video using a drone.
The jawan is said to have done this at great risk to his own life. According to a report, Sepoy Sachin of Rashtriya Rifles climbed the tower.
The Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir is the hometown of Hizbul chief Burhan Wani, who was killed by security forces some time in July. The state of Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing massive unrest after Wani’s killing.
Pakistan has called Wani a ‘martyr’ and even ran a train called ‘Azadi Express’ on August 14, its Independence Day, with posters of Burhan Wani on it.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently chaired an all-party meet on Jammu and Kashmir, where he said, “Time has come when Pakistan shall have to answer to the world for the atrocities committed by it against people in Baluchistan and PoK.” Modi’s mention of Balochistan is being seen as a major foreign policy shift of India towards Pakistan.
